Inaugural post- welcome aboard!

First, there was NOTHING.

Then, it EXPLODED.

And then, there was a PARTY.


... essentially, the Big Bang has just come to pass, and there is already a place with a dance floor and music and a number of roving robotic waiters, and complicated mazes of pipes and bars overhead for flying and arboreal daemons to perch on, and an area with a swimming pool lit by multicolored pulsating lights for those with aquatic daemons, and... well, you get the idea. Welcome to the beginning of everything. Everyone and his/her/its daemon is welcome so long as they behave themselves. Enjoy!

"Most of the people we meet don't use their real names," says the hippo. "Call sign or alias, it doesn't matter."

"I would have let it pass anyway," Fawkes adds. "But thank you for the information."

"Mmn," Voodoo grunts.

Maia glances at him, then back at Fawkes. "So you're learning to swim?"

"The water at home is seldom deep enough to support me," Fawkes says. "And more often than not, there are creatures in it foolish enough to attack anything they see as a threat. I'd rather not have to fend off mirelurks while still learning to swim."

Maia nods. "Swimming's a big part of his job," she says, nodding to Voodoo. "We might be able to help."

"Gee, volunteer me, why don't you."

"He's not usually this snappy. Sarcastic, sure, but not snappy. It's just been a rough training cycle."

"I wouldn't want to impose," rumbles Fawkes.

"I've been doing my best to teach him myself," the hippo says, "but his limbs and mine aren't really arranged the same way. The motion's different..."

"They could use you, Brian."

"Alright, alright." If he were a smoker, now would be when he'd flick the butt out of his hands and rub it out on the ground. "So. How far along are you?"

"I've been treading water for some time," says Fawkes, "as we've spoken. This water is shallow- I'd be half out of it if I put my feet on the bottom. In deeper waters, I can paddle, though it's awkward going."
